Toddlers using Knives

Question: Do you let your children play with knives?

Answer: There is no "let" or "play." My children use knives when they want to cut food. Otherwise they leave them alone. Same as they use the toilet when they want to pee, and otherwise they leave it alone.

The knives live in a wooden block on the counter. When my kids were tall enough to reach them (standing on a stool), they did. Both of them have used knives since toddlerhood, age 16 to 18 months or so. No problems so far.
